Protection of the Younger Generation in the Light of the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Abstract
The protection and development of the younger generation is a fundamental requirement for the stability and progress of any society. In the contemporary era, youth are increasingly exposed to moral decline, intellectual confusion, and social challenges. This study explores the principles for safeguarding the younger generation in the light of the Seerah (biography) of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Prophetic model emphasizes the sound formation of faith (ʿaqīdah), moral refinement, intellectual development, and practical training. The Prophet ﷺ paid special attention to nurturing young companions by instilling strong belief in monotheism, promoting exemplary character, and assigning them significant responsibilities to build confidence and leadership skills. Furthermore, the Seerah highlights the importance of protecting youth from harmful environments, encouraging righteous companionship, and strengthening family institutions as a foundation for ethical upbringing. It also stresses moderation, balance, and active participation of youth in constructive social and religious roles. The findings suggest that adopting the Prophetic approach in education and socialization can effectively address contemporary challenges faced by youth and contribute to the development of a morally upright, responsible, and resilient generation.
