Early Age Marriage in Sharia’s Perspective and Contemporary Issues

Abstract

Allah Almighty has created all the creatures in the world in the form of male and female. There is a certain amount of desire in every creature. In the same way, for the survival of humanity, it was necessary for human beings to have the substance of sexual desires in men and women and through this method the human race would remain in the world. Allah Almighty has endowed man with the blessing of intellect in all creation. But with this, man is not allowed to fulfill his own desires as he pleases, but he can fulfill his natural emotions and desires in the way prescribed by Allah Almighty. Therefore, the religion of Islam has declared marriage to be lawful in a shar'i manner and has described it as a civilized and appropriate method and that is that a boy and a girl can marry each other when they reach the age of puberty. However, what is the position of Islam regarding the age of marriage? What is the Shari'ah concept of underage and underage marriage? What are the current requirements regarding underage marriage? All these points are discussed in detail in this article.
